Finding the Surface Area of a Cylinder

This infographic shows us how we can visualize the surface area of a cylinder by opening it up like a baked bean can to show its net. We will be left with two circles and a rectangle.

The height of the rectangle will be the same as the height of the cylinder. The width of the rectangle is the length that wrapped around the circular base.
